Celebrating our volunteers

Over 60 beach clean volunteers from across the Fylde coast came together at Fleetwood Marine Hall, Lancashire on Friday for their annual volunteer celebration event.

Emma Whitlock, our BeachCare Officer opened the event and gave everybody a quick update on the project. Steph Wyatt, from Love My Beach  followed this with a talk on communications.

Then Keep Britain Tidy CEO Allison Ogden-Netwon thanked the volunteers for their 8,000 hours volunteered and 1,000s of bags of litter removed, as well as telling them about other great work happening across the charity.
All nine groups operating in the area shared what they were up to, providing an opportunity to share ideas and best practice. After a delicious lunch, volunteers enjoyed a trip to Rossall Point Tower, despite the weather not being good enough to enjoy the views fully.
It was a great day, the volunteers were upbeat and the project really showed how it supports volunteers to clean up their local beaches in partnership with United Utilities, the Environment Agency and local authorities on the Fylde coast. Emma has done a great job organising the celebration event.” said Les Warren, our volunteering manager.

Well done Emma and all our BeachCare volunteers across the Fylde coast.
