How do you feel about
holidaying in the UK rather than going abroad for a break? Well it seems the
staycation is as popular as ever and it’s here to stay. Late Rooms have found
that the number of holidays taken to UK seaside resorts has steadily increased
in the past five years.
St. Ives is a firm favourite
for British holidaymakers as they have enjoyed a 550 per cent increase in
bookings over the past five years.
But it’s not just Cornwall, over
the past five years Bridlington and Skegness have both seen an increase of 250
per cent rise in bookings and Essex favourite Southend-on-Sea has welcomed 60
per cent more.
That’s great to hear, especially as these beaches are all holders of either our Blue Flag or Seaside Award, or in some cases, both. Maybe this is why they are such popular places to visit as the awards are quality marks and those visiting can be sure that they are clean, safe and meet the highest environmental standards. Very soon we will be able to announce which beaches across the UK have been awarded Blue Flag and Seaside Awards for the 2016 bathing season. Watch this space.
Don’t forget this weekend is a
Bank Holiday weekend…is it time to clear those cobwebs away and enjoy a break away by the
seaside, beside the sea?
